One of the greatest challenges to running an online business is generating targeted website traffic. Creating products isn't that difficult. I can crank out a quality information product in a relatively short amount of time. However, reaching prospects through organic traffic methods is not easy. This is why it's so important to have a plan, a systematic approach to generating traffic. In this article I am providing a basic plan to help you reach your target audience. I call it the 3+3 online marketing strategy. Once you have mastered the techniques in this strategy, you can scale, and perhaps even outsource some of the work if you want to take it to the next level.
As the title suggest, this plan suggests things you'll need to do three times weekly and things you will need to do three times daily. This strategy is synergistic, meaning one task directly benefits another. This synergistic benefit will allow you to accomplish more in less time.
Lets begin with video uploads. I suggest you upload three videos per week and spread them out evenly throughout seven days. Of course these videos need to be highly targeted to your offer. If you believe your product is high quality and will add value to anyone who buys it and applies it, don't be shy about pitching it at the end. Include a clear call to action at the end of the video to tell people what you have to offer. Display a link within your video and provide a link within your description. Include good tags and you're set.
Lets cover blog posts next. The reason we started with videos is because we will repurpose this content for our blog posts. After you've uploaded a video, simply grab its embed code, paste it into a new post and write a short description above your video. I also recommend you use an image in each of your posts, so your visitors can pin them on Pinterest.
Now if you want to squeeze more out of your efforts, transcribe each video into text. You can then upload this text to your favorite article directory. You've now repurposed your videos for two additional traffic sources.
Now we'll cover things you will need to do three times daily: Tweets, Pins and Facebook posts. Lets begin with Facebook. I recommend three posts per day using creativity and good social media etiquette. Think about what people like and don't like to see in their news feeds. They like to see text images that are humorous, thought-provoking, heartwarming and even controversial. They don't like to see ads. Therefore, you'll need to carefully plan out your three posts each day. A typical day may consist of an image quote, a creative call to action asking readers to check out your latest blog post and another about one of your videos.
The same principle applies with Twitter. Mix it up and and be creative. You don't need to tweet two or three times a day promoting your blog. Include nonbusiness tweets and retweets. Remember what social media is all about. It's about interaction. It is important to connect with others socially to create an interest in your offers.
With Pinterest, You can create pins that point to your blog, your video, your Facebook Page, but you need to include more nonbusiness related pins too. Share your favorite recipes, hilarious images and ones that represent your interests. Pinterest is a fun, educational site that can greatly benefit your online business. However, as with other social media sites, you need to use it wisely.
That's basically it. This is a very simple, straightforward plan. It can be very powerful if you work it consistently and of course, have a good offer. There are times you won't feel like doing something (e.g. create a video), but if you push through and just do it, you efforts are going to pay off eventually.
